Drake
Apologies for the long respite. I’m on break at home just recovering from the flu and all that nasty stuff that I managed to contract during mid-sems. Of all the times to get sick right? Oh well, the past is the past no need to complain. Oh wait, I took the flu shot around swim season, I’ve been taking my vitamins and eating my fruit (I’m a wannabe-athlete you see) so I do kind of get to complain. I digress.
Drake is awesome. He’s on fiyah. He was born Aubrey Drake Graham. And he used to play a character on Degrassi. Lame.
Drake doesn’t seem to do anything brand new. He doesn’t explore any crazy artistic outlet on his person like someone we know whose name rhymes with Hanye. Drake just does “some” stuff good. Granted he has to rely on several guest spots with Lil Wayne to liven up his songs. I guess if he had his own beats to sing to instead of relying on tried and tested beats, Drake would shine.
Hit tracks for me are “Brand New”, where he tries to compare himself to his girlfriend’s exes. Don’t ever go down that road foo’. I guess he needed some song material right, and “Uptown”.
I’m putting him on the same shelf as Kid Cudi, Wale and The Dream in regards to up and coming talent that’s on my sonar. Well, Wale was always on my radar. Papoose just dropped the ball on so much. So he had to be dropped off my sonar.
